• PG department was established in the year 2000.

Course details

PG course is of 2 year (four semester) duration leading to M.Sc Biochemistry Degree. 13 Students are admitted to this course every year

The course includes 11theory papers, four practical papers, project work and seminars.

Practicals

The department has a large Laboratory space which includes 3 Laboratories, General Lab –I, General Lab II and microbiology lab. The students are exposed to many advanced techniques and are trained in the use of sophisticated instruments including UV-VIS Spectrophotometer , high speed centrifuge, Laminar airflow cabinets , Microscopes, electrophoresis unit, incubators, Deep freezer, PH meter, automated pipettes etc.

Part of the Master studies is a 6 months project work. Furthermore we will have experience with plants, blood etc.

Facilities

Department has basic infrastructure facilities to meet the requirement for teaching and research in various areas of biochemistry. Varied collection of biochemistry books and periodicals are available in the library. Each student is provided with two set of cards for borrowing books.

Opportunities

PG students can work as an academic researcher, clinical research associate, technical writer, biomedical scientist, Pharmacologist, scientific library technician.

Placements

A placement cell functions in the college. It looks after the placement of the outgoing final year students.

Admission

50% marks in biochemistry /chemistry is eligible for admission for PG.
