I, Dr. J. Vijayakumar, Principal of Emmanuel College, Vazhichal, am delighted to welcome you to our institution - an accessible centre of excellence in higher education in rural and urban Kerala. Emmanuel College was established in 1995 by a visionary group of young priests under the aegis of the Catholic Educational and Charitable Society. Since its inception, the College has been affiliated with the University of Kerala and is duly recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Today, our institution offers a broad spectrum of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the Arts, Sciences, and Commerce streams, including departments such as Computer Science, Electronics, Biochemistry, Botany and Biotechnology, Geography, Physics, History, Commerce, English, and Mathematics. Our academic community comprises approximately 1,850 students supported by a faculty of 82 members, many of whom hold doctoral qualifications. The consistent pursuit of scholarly excellence by our students has earned them 21 university ranks to date. The College campus is designed to facilitate a comprehensive and enriching educational experience. Our library holds over 18,000 volumes, subscribes to more than 15 journals and four newspapers, and provides a furnished reading room with Internet access. State-of-the-art laboratories cater to disciplines including Computer Science, Electronics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, and Geography. Furthermore, students benefit from an auditorium, cafeteria, health centre, efficient transport services, and separate hostel accommodations for men and women. Beyond academic rigour, Emmanuel College fosters holistic development through active engagement in extracurricular and community initiatives. Our National Service Scheme (NSS), involving around 250 dedicated volunteers, guides students in community service and leadership. In addition, cultural, literary, women’s cell, AICUF, sports, and arts clubs, along with annual events such as seminars, debates, athletic and cultural competitions, and our college magazine, encourage creativity, teamwork, and civic awareness.
